World Book Day!

Happy World Book Day everyone!! On days like these I struggle not to get on my soapbox!!

I’m passionate about reading with children and children’s literature!!

Isaac has been read aloud to fron the age of 2 weeks when I read him his first book – “Room on the Broom” by Julia Donaldson!

In those early months we’d lie on our backs and I’d hold the book up for him to see and we’d read a stack of books with him gazing up at the bright pictures.

We went through a phase when being mobile was new and exciting that he would not sit still long enough to be read to but we persevered and read while he wandered and bought books that pandered to his new interests and he came back for more.

These days he loves books. Some days more than others admittedly but even on the worst days he will have 4 or 5 stories before bed. On a good day he will read a few here and there from morning til night and we might have a mamoth 10 book session tucked up together.

And what could be nicer than tucked up with your little one reading aloud hearing their little questions and their enthusiam for different stories.

Enriching their vocabulary and their cognitive development while having such lovely snuggly time… what could be better?

We read everything from magazines about his fave tv characters to the auto trader amagzine, non fiction about sea creatures or monsters trucks right through to traditional fairy tales.

And I have everyone read to him!! You don’t leave my house til you’ve read to my son!! Ok maybe I’m not that bad but I love him to enjoy reading with lots of people.

So for World Book Day here’s pictures of Isaac enjoying books with lots of people close to him.. GRAB A BOOK, snuggle up… its the bet thing you’ll do today!!

This is a fabulous post! What a lucky boy Isaac is!

We’re about to enter that on-the-move stage with our Issac, I’m afraid. Hopefully he’ll still let me read to him at bedtime, if not any other time during the day.
